Creating New Habits – Health Update
This is a health update to give you an idea of how healthy a raw food diet is compared to a non-raw version.
I finished the challenge on Saturday and ate raw on Sunday morning. In the evening, as planned, I went to a yaki niku restaurant with my family. Yaki niku is barbecued meat. It is very nice and my favorite food. This was the first time I had eaten hot food for almost a month and only the second time in several weeks that I had eaten food that had been cooked (the previous occasion was when I ate sushi. The rice was cold but had been steamed).
I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and felt very relaxed after eating. Yesterday (Monday) was a good day and I felt fine, having enjoyed watching the Superbowl. Today (Tuesday) was going to be a busy day for me as I have some new clients to see in the afternoon and today was the first day that my normal routine would be changed a little. I therefore made sure I got a good sleep last night and the day started well. However, by late afternoon and since then I have been feeling very, very tired and worn out. My muscles are aching and I feel a little nauseous. I experienced the same feelings after eating the sushi earlier in the challenge but am much more aware of the effects the non-raw food has had on my energy and sense of well-being. I really don’t feel like doing anything and I won’t be training later tonight. Probably I will just to to bed early and make sure I have a good, long sleep again.
I had intended to write a more lengthy article that described in greater detail my experiences with a raw food diet and I got a lot written yesterday, but today I once again feel like I have been hit by a truck and can’t concentrate enough to sit down and finish the article.
I am mentioning this in a separate post because I am now convinced that there are very, very significant health benefits to be had from following a raw food diet. Until you have experienced the differences first hand it is difficult for me to convey exactly how the difference in diet has affected me, but I can assure that the differences certainly do exist and are almost immediately detectable.
